Eric Westman, MD, MHS - President Elect
Dr. Eric Westman is Board certified in Internal Medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic at Duke University Health System, Durham, North Carolina. He is the course coordinator for one of the medical school’s only electives relating to obesity management.
Dr. Westman speaks regularly on the topics of low carbohydrate diets, endocrine, and pathophysiology at ASBP conferences. In 2010 he was named Bariatrician of the Year. This award recognizes a physician who has done the most to advance the field of bariatric medicine and ASBP. In 2009 he received the Steelman-Seim Educator Award for advancing the cause of health care through education and teaching. Dr. Westman received his MD degree from the University of Wisconsin, completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kentucky, and received a Masters degree in biostatistics during a General Medicine Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
